I milled a huge piece of maple last summer. I got two big cross cut slabs out of it. I also got an assortment of smaller pieces from the two ends. One of these leftover pieces was about the right size to make a clock face. I wood turned a place for the clock to go in this piece of maple. I liked the idea that the hands of the clock had been on this piece of maple for a very long time and had worn circles into the wood. I sanded the outer part of the face on the disk sander. I had to make a space for the clock works on the back to mount the clock.
